As a weight lifter, I like my protein. After being diagnosed with kidney disease, I quickly learned that protein was no longer my friend. I now consume approximately 100 grams of protein a day and feel as if the cutback has not affected muscle mass.

The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA), which is the minimum amount you need to be healthy, is 0.8 grams per kilogram (0.36 grams per pound) of body weight per day—72 grams for a 200 lbs man. However it is recommended  that this figure be doubled for optimal muscle development and growth through strength training.

How much protein do you take in? Have you noticed and significant decrease in muscle mass (if you had to reduce your protein intake)?
